Leaving the Empuriabrava Marina and heading south we will find:

Sant Martí d’Empúries and El Rec beach

Eight miles from Empuriabrava, just before reaching L’Escala, and next to the ruins founded by the Phoenicians in the 6th century BC, we have the Sant Martí d’Empúries breakwater, which together with El Rec beach, is a good place to anchor and spend the day with southern winds.

El Rec beach in L’Escala

Having passed L’Escala port to the south, we find Cala Montgó which has restaurants worth visiting by dinghy and which is a good place to anchor and spend the day.

Cala Ferriol

Cala Pedrosa

Medes Islands marine reserve

Twelve miles to the south of Empuriabrava, just in front of the Estartit port we find the Medes Islands archipelago and marine reserve, the ideal place for diving enthusiasts and visiting early in the morning with children and youngsters with goggles and flippers. We will find all kinds of fish just a few metres deep.

Illes Medes

Although the marvellous Costa Brava and its ports and corners continue to the south, we hope this little “trip” along the coast close to Empuriabrava that we have presented here will help visitors spend some unforgettable nautical days in our region.
