MARINA D’EMPURIABRAVA
LEAVING THE EMPURIABRAVA MARINA FOLLOWING THE COAST TO THE NORTH WE WILL FIND:
CAP DE CREUS NATURE RESERVE
SOUTHERN COAST OF THE CAP DE CREUS
Punta Falconera is the start of the largest nature reserve in Europe. From this web map and in order of proximity, we will try to show you the best parts via photos and comments so you can visit it in your boat.
These five coves belong to Roses Town Council and rent out mooring buoys in the summer. To book one call 972 154 412.
At Cala Pelosa and Cala Jòncols you will find restaurants that will serve you food on board, or you can also visit them ashore. (La Pelosa: 972 151 009, CH11; Jòncols: 972 253 970, CH13)
CADAQUÉS AND PORT LLIGAT
A beautiful spot sheltered from the south winds under the Cadaqués lighthouse.
NORTHERN COAST OF THE CAP DE CREUS
The Cap de Creus lighthouse is on the eastern most point of the peninsula. Checking the weather forecast is good and no northern winds are forecast, we can reach it by passing the marvellous S’Encalladora Island to the south. There follows a series of spots of unrivalled beauty.
Now reaching the charming village of Port de la Selva, we complete our suggestions of the possible places to spend a day or two, using Empuriabrava as your base. We recommend visiting the furthest areas by motorboat and the nearest by motor or sailboat; a trip around a coast that you will never forget and to which we are sure you will return!

Leaving the Empuriabrava Marina and heading south we will find:
Sant Martí d’Empúries and El Rec beach
Eight miles from Empuriabrava, just before reaching L’Escala, and next to the ruins founded by the Phoenicians in the 6th century BC, we have the Sant Martí d’Empúries breakwater, which together with El Rec beach, is a good place to anchor and spend the day with southern winds.
Having passed L’Escala port to the south, we find Cala Montgó which has restaurants worth visiting by dinghy and which is a good place to anchor and spend the day.
Medes Islands marine reserve
Twelve miles to the south of Empuriabrava, just in front of the Estartit port we find the Medes Islands archipelago and marine reserve, the ideal place for diving enthusiasts and visiting early in the morning with children and youngsters with goggles and flippers. We will find all kinds of fish just a few metres deep.
Illes Medes
Although the marvellous Costa Brava and its ports and corners continue to the south, we hope this little “trip” along the coast close to Empuriabrava that we have presented here will help visitors spend some unforgettable nautical days in our region.
